Located less than two hours from San Diego, Ensenada is a beautiful port city on the Pacific Coast of Mexico’s Baja peninsula. At its heart is the harbor and waterfront area with the Malecón promenade. Southwest of the city is a spectacular marine geyser called La Bufadora, the second largest in the world. This marine geyser rises more than 30 meters above sea level, producing a sound that gave it its name.
Located about 14 miles inland from Ensenada, Valle de Guadalupe is Baja’s wine region that has been decribed as the Napa Valley of Mexico, and for good reason. It’s 1000 foot elevation and Mediterranean micro-climate create ideal conditions for growing red wine grapes. Also, its fine dining restaurants offer sophisticated food at a fraction of what you’d pay in America.
Day 1: San Diego to Ensenada
We’ll meet in the afternoon at the rental location for the transportation we’ll take across the border. Here, we’ll all ride together in a van to our vacation rental in Ensenada.
Note: You will be able to leave your vehicle in a secure location at the rental location for $10/day (not included).
Day 2: Wine Tour in Valle de Guadalupe
This morning, we’ll have a driver and Sommelier wine guide pick us up and drive us to Valle de Guadalupe for a tour of some of the best boutique wineries the valley has to offer. We’ll get to go behind the scenes and speak with winemakers and staff to really connect the wine in the glass with the people who make it. We’ll also enjoy a multi-course farm to table lunch and sample fresh local cheeses and artisan spreads.
Day 3: Kayaking at La Bufadora
This morning, we’ll head to La Bufadora where our kayaks will be waiting for us at a local beach. We’ll kayak to the famous blowhole to see this natural phenomenon up close. Kayaking always makes for a fun day out on the water! Afterwards, we’ll explore the cliffs above to get a different view of the geyser and enjoy some free time shopping and having lunch in the village.
Day 4: Depart Ensenada
Today we’ll check out of our vacation rental and cross the border for our return to San Diego in the afternoon.
