Santa Barbara SUP & SIP

Price: $99

Stand up, then get a little “sideways.” Join Adventure People for a half-day of Stand-Up Paddle Boarding (or kayaking) from Santa Barbara’s West Beach, followed by a wine-tasting at a local winery. Never tried SUP (stand-up paddleboard) before? No worries! All equipment is provided, as well as optional hands-on training if you need some instruction. Prefer to kayak? That’s an option too!

Sandwiched between rugged coastal mountains and south-facing beaches, Santa Barbara is often called the American Riviera. The dramatic geography and warm Mediterranean climate are best appreciated from the water. Come explore the gorgeous natural coastline and get a front-row seat to view the wildlife of the region.  From sea lions to pelicans, egrets, and herons, the coastline has an abundance of beautiful creatures to admire. If you’re lucky, you could even paddle with a pod of dolphins or witness gray whales or humpback whales passing on their yearly migration. Your experienced guide will launch you from the sand of Santa Barbara’s West Beach and lead you along the famous surf spot known as Sandspit to Stearn’s Wharf and then to the Santa Barbara Harbor.

Then, once you’ve “worked for your wine,” we’ll head over to the Funk Zone for a wine tasting at a local winery. Sample and sip on unique wines from the region and receive a discount on a bottle (or two) to take home. Santa Barbara’s Funk Zone has become a favorite in recent years. This district, which spans the area between the ocean and Highway 101 and is adjacent to the Amtrak station, has enjoyed an upswell of boutique tasting rooms, cafes, galleries, and shops that cater to Santa Barbara’s contemporary side. Converted warehouses and buildings decorated with graffiti murals and contemporary art pieces set the tone for this hopping section of town.
