Adventure People (“The Company”) is committed to protecting your privacy when you visit our website, AdventurePeople.net. You can access AdventurePeople.net and browse our site without disclosing any of your personal data. AdventurePeople.net does not collect personal information about individuals, such as names and mailing or email addresses unless it is knowingly provided by the individual and he or she has agreed to the terms under which AdventurePeople.net will use it. 

Please read our Privacy Policy carefully before using our website. By using the website or by clicking to accept or agree to the Terms and Conditions when this option is available to you, you accept and agree to be bound and abide by the Privacy Policy. If you do not want to agree to the Privacy Policy, you must not access or use our website. 

What personal data we collect and why we collect it

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Contact forms

We will collect certain information from you when you fill out a contact form, make an inquiry, or book a trip with us. Depending on your interaction with us and the products and services you use, we typically collect the following personal information: 

  • your full name, date of birth, gender (i.e. male/female), postal address, phone number, email address, dietary requirements, travel insurance details, passport details (including nationality), passport scan, visa application, visa scan;
  • we may also ask for medical/ health information, such as pre-existing medical conditions, if you have a disability, food allergies, etc. some of which is considered sensitive information or special category data under relevant data protection laws; and 
  • any additional information you provide during the booking process to check if a trip is right for you, which may include personal information.

We also process and store records of the products and services you have inquired about or purchased from us, as well as collect and process information relevant to your booking (such as flights and accommodation details) that you have not booked through Adventure People, where this information has been passed to us by our partners and/or third parties. 

If Adventure People is offering visa support or assisting you with applying for a visa in certain countries such as Russia, China, etc. you may be asked to provide additional information, marital status, your spouse’s personal information, your children’s personal information, employment and education history, and social media tags. If you are providing us with the personal information of another person, you must ensure that you inform those persons of the information that you intend to provide to us, and that those you represent are aware of the content of our Privacy Policy and consent to your acting on their behalf. 

Cookies

We also collect your technical data (including IP addresses, browser type and versions, other technology on the device that you use to access our website, some of which is collected automatically), as well as information about your usage of our websites as you and other browse our site. Our website uses a standard technology called ‘cookies’ and web server log. 

If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

Who we share your information with

Making an Inquiry or Booking a Trip

In order to handle your inquiry, fulfill your product or service request or manage your booking, we may share your personal information with the following: 

  • any member of Adventure People and our internal contractors and staff, including local tour guides, and trip leaders;
  • our travel partners (e.g. travel agencies, tour operators, Destination Management Companies)
  • travel providers (e.g. Airlines, tour companies)
  • other third-party operators (i.e. local operators, couriers, payment processors, etc.)
  • other suppliers and service providers (e.g. hotels, transfer drivers, etc.); and
  • in some cases, Government authorities (e.g. for border crossings, visa requirements, etc.)

You should familiarize yourself with the privacy policies of all travel providers and tour operators you select to provide a trip or travel-related services. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of third-party travel providers and tour operators with whom you may choose to book travel product and services. 

Website Support

If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.

Other Sharing

We may share or transfer information in connection with any merger, sale of company assets, financing, or acquisition of all or a portion of our business to another company. You will be notified via email and/or a prominent notice on the services if a transaction takes place, as well as any choices you may have regarding your information. 

We may share your information with relevant regulators, which may include privacy regulators and supervisory authorities in other jurisdictions, and with courts and law enforcement to comply with all applicable laws, regulations and rules, and requests of law enforcement (e.g. police), regulatory and other governmental agencies. 

We also share personal information with insurance providers and/or medical personnel, which may be for identification of fraud or error, for regulatory reporting and compliance, or if we believe the disclosure is necessary to lessen or prevent a threat to life, health or safety. 

We may share in aggregate, statistical form, non-personal information regarding the visitors to our website, traffic patterns, and website usage with our advertisers. 

Selling Data

We do not and will not sell your personal information under any circumstances.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

We retain and store most information about you in our computer systems and databases operated by us or our external service providers. Some information about you may be recorded in paper files that we store securely. 

We will only retain your personal information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes we collected it for. What rights you have over your data

We want you to feel reassured that you have control of the information you provide to us.

If you have an account on our site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
