Music City is the place to be on Monday, August 21, 2017, when a once-in-a-lifetime celestial event will occur: the first total solar eclipse to sweep across the entire United States in 99 years! The total eclipse will only be visible within a narrow corridor that passes through Oregon, Idaho, Wyoming, Nebraska, Missouri, Illinois, Kentucky, Tennessee, North Carolina, Georgia and South Carolina. The most recent total solar eclipse occurred in 1991, but this will be the first since 1918 to cross the nation from the Pacific to the Atlantic, and the first since 1979 to be visible within the 48 contiguous states. As the largest US city in the eclipse’s path, Nashville will watch day turn into night as the moon completely blocks the sun for about two minutes. Nashville is the perfect destination for a weekend getaway. It’s perfect for music lovers, food aficionados, and those who love the night life, but it’s also a hotspot for hikers and folks who love to be outdoors.

Highlights

  • Pedal the streets of Nashville on an electric-assist bike with an experienced driver, bartender, premium sound system, an electric assist motor, and a DJ on board to play your favorite tunes.
  • Discover why they call Nashville Music City USA as we check out the bars, nightlife, and the local music scene.
  • Spend a day exploring the 179 miles of greenways and bike lanes through town that wind through nature parks, riverbanks, creeks, and urban areas.
  • Go kayaking or stand-up paddle boarding along the beautiful Cumberland River.
  • Go for a hike in The Warner Parks System, which includes Edwin and Percy Warner Parks, with nearly 3,000 acres of forest and hiking trails that range from incredibly easy to pretty difficult.
  • Enjoy food, wine, art, music and vibrant Italian traditions with a grand finale that happens only once in a lifetime.

Is this trip right for you?

  • Our accommodations will be in a vacation rental, meaning you’ll be sharing a house with your fellow travelers and will probably need to share a room as well.
  • The southern states of the USA can be really hot and humid in the summer.
  • While our leaders are knowledgeable about Tennessee and we try to ensure that they have experience in the area, it’s possible that your leader may be new to the region.
  • When getting to each of our destinations, you’ll be traveling in a van with a group of travelers, so conditions may feel a little cramped. This is all part of the adventure, however you might even make some long-term friends.
  • You’re in the South, so expect a lot of delicious fried food and barbecue. Vegetarians may have limited options, as a lot of southern cuisine is meat-based.
