  • The accommodations included in this itinerary are 4* Hotels.

  • This trip includes 3 domestic flights between the islands. Please note that these flights have a luggage limit of 20kg (44 lbs), so please pack accordingly as exceeding this limit may incur additional charges at the airport.

  • This tour requires a minimum of 8 participants and a maximum of 12 participants in order to ensure the best small group tour experience. 

  • There is a snorkeling opportunity on this trip and you must know how to swim and be comfortable being in the ocean for you to participate.

  • The weather in the Azores in July is pleasant with highs around 76°F (24°C) and nighttime temperatures around 65°F (18°C).

  • A single supplement is available if you’d prefer to not share a room on this trip, but is based on availability.

  • This trip does not require any physical preparation, however, a good level of fitness will be an advantage. The Azores are a natural wonderland and the best way to discover them is on foot, but long and challenging hikes are all optional. There are a few included walks and lots of opportunities to discver the islands further in your free time.

  • Arrive in Ponta Delgada, Sao Miguel Island (The Green Island) | Free Time

    Day 1

    Upon arrival, a driver will be waiting to take you from the airport to your hotel in Ponta Delgada. There are no scheduled activities today, so depending on your arrival, spend some free time exploring the city on your own. This evening, we’ll have our first taste of traditional Portuguese cuisine and wine while enjoying some local music.

    Day 1
  • Ponta Delgada | Sete Cidades | Lagoa do Fogo (Lake of Fire)

    Day 2

    Today, we'll first enjoy and off-road experience at Sete Cidades for an exhilarating and immersive way to explore this iconic destination. Then, after an adventure-filled morning, we'll explore the central interior area of the island and discover Lagoa do Fogo (Lake of Fire).

  • Ponta Delgada | Furnas Lake & Hot Springs

    Day 3

    Today, we'll head to the opposite side of the island for a few nights and explore the area of Furnas with its beautiful lake and hot springs. Our hotel this evening is a luxurious retreat nestled within the Terra Nostra Botanical Garden, one of the most beautiful gardens in Portugal and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Renowned for its lush vegetation, thermal pools, and tranquil atmosphere, this hotel offers guests a unique blend of natural beauty, relaxation, and hospitality.

  • Furnas | Free Day w/ Optional Activities

    Day 4

    Today, enjoy a full free day to explore Sao Miguel at your own pace, or you may wish to join one of our optional activities: a hiking tour of Lagoa do Fogo (Fire Lake), Kayaking Vila Franca do Campo Islet, or Canyoning at Parque Natural de Ribeira dos Caldeiroes.

  • Full-Day Tour to Nordeste Area

    Day 5

    Today, we’ll spend our last day on Sao Miguel exploring the Eastern part of the island, known as the Nordeste area, a region renowned for its pristine natural beauty and dramatic coastal landscapes. Visit the charming Ribeira Quente village, explore the Miradouro da Ponta do Sossego garden, visit the iconic Arnel Lighthouse, and immerse yourself in the natural splendor of Ribeira dos Caldeirões Park.

  • Fly from São Miguel to Pico Island (The Grey Island) | Half-Day Wine Tour of Vineyards of Pico

    Day 6

    Pico Island's centerpiece is Mount Pico, the highest peak in Portugal and the third-largest volcano in the Atlantic. The island is also renowned for its unique vineyard landscape, known as the Pico Island Vineyard Culture, which has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This afternoon, we’ll have the chance to sample some of this wine on a tour of some of the best wine cellars on the island.

  • Pico Island | Free Day w/ Optional Activities

    Day 7

    Today, enjoy a full free day to explore Pico Island at your own pace, or you may wish to join one of our optional activities: Climb Mount Pico, Whale and Dolphin Watching, or take a Full-Day tour of the island.

  • Gruta das Torres Guided Tour | Fly to Terceira Island (The Lilac Island) | Serra do Cume | Biscoitos | Tour of Visit Algar do Carvão Cave + Gruta do Natal Lava Tube + Furnas do Enxofre

    Day 8

    Today we'll explore one of the longest lava tube systems in the Azores on Pico Island before our short flight to Terceira Island, where we'll continue our exploration of volcanic terrain. Our accommodation this evening is in the main city and cultural hub of Terceira Island, Angra do Heroísmo, a UNESCO World Heritage Site renowned for its well-preserved historic center.

  • Terceira Island | Angra do Heroismo Walking Tour | Monte Brasil Nature Reserve & the three fortresses of Angra

    Day 9

    Start your day with a historical walking tour of Angra do Heroismo. After lunch, head to Monte Brasil to visit the fortresses located on the volcanic cone. They are not only historic landmarks but also important symbols of the resilience and strategic importance of Angra do Heroísmo throughout its history.

  • Depart Terceira Island | Miradoura da Serrentinha Feteira | Church of San Sebastian | Praia da Vitoria

    Day 10

    Today, we'll depart Terceira Island for our return to Sao Miguel and the end of our trip. On the way to the airport, we'll make a few photo stops and visit the Church of San Sebastian, the oldest church on the island.

    Note: Please do not book any ongoing travel on this day before 4pm.
